BTS Stills for FUSO's "Love of the Game" CM

I has such an amazing experience putting this shoot together as both the Director and DP. Deciding the location, designing the set, writing the story, story-boarding, casting, and filming, all of these things were an incredibly creative challenge. But having an amazing team bring it all together was so rewarding. I’m happy we were able to put together such and amazing product. Thank you everyone! Now you get to see me look awkward as heck while being creative. Enjoy!

Over 1.7 million organic views for Tokyo Gone!

One thing we learned during these trying times is that motorcycles make people feel better. Our short film, Tokyo Gone, jumped over an astounding 1,680,000 views in the past couple of months. I’m happy we can bring some joy during these globally challenging times even 5 years after we finished the film! Here’s to Aki, our bad-ass, motorcycle swapping, modern day Robin Hood! Get Gone girl! Clip Studio Commercial BTS Photos in L.A.

I don’t often get to see photos of myself behind the camera as I’m usually very busy filming or directing, but thankfully Wei Chen, our second camera operator and wicked illustrator, was able to take some stills during the production. We had a very talented small and mobile crew, keeping it simple and clean as we shot all over L.A. and Hollywood! It was such a pleasure working with the always awesome and talented illustrator Babs Tarr and I can’t wait to find another project for us to work together on again. Enjoy the photos!

"Where Memory is Traded" featured on Factmag.com

Screen Shot 2020-07-07 at 10.59.06.png

The music video “Where Memory is Traded” I shot for Memotone was recently featured on Factmag.com. There was a nice right up about the artist Will Yates and the video itself and how it was filmed in the forests just outside of Tokyo, the same forests that Hayao Miyazaki drew inspiration for the Studio Ghibli classic, My Neighbour Totoro.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, artists need our support more than ever. You can support Memotone by buying music from his Bandcamp.

My First Pecha Kucha

I had the amazing chance to do a Pecha Kucha presentation in Tokyo. I have been to many and even been a part of a handful of other’s Pecha Kuchas over the years, but had never done one myself. So, I pulled up my creative pants and decided it was time. I spoke about my experiences being a independent film maker and cinematographer in Tokyo over the past decade and shared a handful of stills from my film and photography work. It was such a good experience and you couldn’t ask for a better community here in Tokyo where it all started. If you are interested in going to or doing one, check out more from Pecha Kucha here.

Staff screening of Resident Evil: Vendetta

I had the opportunity to watch the first screening for staff and talent who worked on the animated CG feature film Resident Evil: Vendetta. The film was shown in a private theater on the Toei movie production lot in Tokyo. I had a chance to hangout with the film’s composer Kenji Kawai. His legendary soundtrack to Ghost in The Shell has been a huge inspiration to me over the years, so it was great to meet him! What a great project to be able to be a part of! Thanks Marza and Capcom!

It has been a quite a tremendous honor to have my first feature film “The Last Library” as Director of Photography take home a handful of awards during it’s festival run. But, I’m most proud of this one. It was such a great learning experience and I loved shooting it on anamorphic glass. I think it really brought the world and vision of the director to life. Cheers to the team for making a great film and I was so happy to be a part of it.
